We’ve worked hard to bring data governance and privacy to businesses, and in leaps and bounds have upgraded our end-to-end data governance and lifecycle management solution. It’s easy to say that we are now the best option on the table for enterprises going into 2024. 

To show how dedicated we are to our mission, here we’ve encompassed each month's significant advancements and innovations. Read on for a brief overview of the progress we’ve made throughout the year!

January

MineOS Radar: This innovative tool was introduced to enhance data privacy professionals' awareness of new data sources and shadow IT. Radar performed comprehensive sweeps of all data systems, offering users an efficient workflow to decide on incorporating or off-boarding newly discovered data sources. It was integrated into the Data Inventory panel of the MineOS portal, continuously identifying and highlighting new data sources. Radar provided crucial context, including usage frequency, employee access count, and departmental relevance, aiding in informed decision-making.

AI Suggestions for Data Types: MineOS's AI capabilities were expanded to include predictions on data types present in each data source. This feature simplified the preparation of Records of Processing Activities (RoPA) reports. Users could quickly and accurately assess the kinds of data types in each data source and understand the associated processing activities, even without direct integration with the data source. These AI Suggestions were accessible in the Data Sources panel, marked with a distinctive yellow symbol.

Teammate Feedback: MineOS integrated a Teammate Feedback feature to allow privacy professionals to seek detailed insights into data sources directly from their colleagues. This feature was embedded within the Radar tool, complementing the AI's contextual information. The introduction of the Reviewer role in MineOS facilitated this process, where Data Protection Officers (DPOs) could easily request feedback about a data source from Power Users. The feedback process was streamlined, with reviewers receiving prompt email notifications and providing comments directly on the MineOS platform.

Rebranding to MineOS: Reflecting its evolution and expanded capabilities, Mine transitioned to MineOS. This change underscored the platform's commitment to addressing broader data governance and security challenges in various industries. While the consumer-facing Mine App remained unchanged, MineOS was specifically tailored to meet the nuanced requirements of businesses. The rebranding emphasized the platform's ongoing focus on privacy and security.

Scaling for Enterprises: MineOS underwent significant scaling enhancements to support a larger number of data sources and employee interactions. These upgrades were designed to ensure efficient management of vast data assets while upholding the highest privacy, security, and accessibility standards.

SSO Logins: Single Sign-On (SSO) options were introduced for enterprise users, integrating seamlessly with various identity providers such as Google, Okta, and AzureAD. This feature enhanced security and user convenience significantly.

April

Enhanced MineOS AI: The platform's AI was further enhanced to suggest Status and Department for each employee, providing deeper insights into individual roles' impact on privacy. Additionally, the platform allowed for the bulk implementation of these AI suggestions, streamlining the administrative process.

Unused Assets List: A crucial new feature, the "Unused Assets List," was unveiled. It simplified the management of assets and employees no longer active within the system, bolstering data privacy by transferring them to a segregated list intended for eventual off-boarding.

New Admin Role: A new Admin role was introduced, enabling more comprehensive control over privacy operations within organizations. Admins were empowered to invite new Agents, consolidating the management and delegation of privacy-related tasks. This role was designed to enhance communication and efficiency in privacy management.

Exporting and Logging: MineOS debuted a feature allowing users to export a wide array of data, including Unused Assets, Processing Activities, and more. The platform's dashboard was updated to include detailed information about the Last Login, enhancing security and oversight with IP, location, and other relevant details.

Custom Frameworks: The platform expanded its capabilities with the introduction of Custom Frameworks. These frameworks allowed businesses to tailor alerts and categorizations according to their specific industry needs, aligning data governance more closely with their operational requirements.

Suggest Power Users: The process for seeking feedback on data sources and processing activities was streamlined with the introduction of the Suggest Power Users feature. This update highlighted the most relevant Power Users for each task, eliminating the need for separate checks on their role or status.

AWS Cloud Data Source Discovery: MineOS introduced a feature for discovering data sources within AWS infrastructure, significantly benefiting businesses leveraging Amazon's cloud platform. This feature enabled easier location and management of data sources in the cloud environment.

VPN Tunneling: A new VPN Tunneling feature was added to MineOS, allowing organizations to securely link their VPNs with the platform. This addition not only encrypted data but also fortified it against various cyber threats, integrating organizational infrastructure seamlessly with MineOS.

Custom Integrations: MineOS expanded its technological adaptability with the introduction of webhook connectivity. This allowed custom systems to integrate with the MineOS privacy portal, elevating these systems to the privacy and compliance standards of SaaS offerings.

August

DSR Autopilot: A significant enhancement to data subject request handling, the DSR Autopilot feature, was launched. It automated responses, allowed batch processing of requests, and provided real-time updates on request status and issues. This tool dramatically improved efficiency and user experience by reducing manual oversight.

Custom Data Types and Subjects: Users gained the ability to add custom data types and subjects to their data inventory, enabling more personalized and relevant data categorization. This feature was particularly useful for businesses with unique data processes or those seeking more specific labeling for critical data types.

September

Data Classifier: MineOS introduced the Data Classifier menu, improving the scanning and classification of Personally Identifiable Information (PII). This tool offered exhaustive coverage of data types and their locations within each data source.

Schema Mapping: The platform enhanced its capabilities with detailed mapping of unstructured data sources. This feature provided precise information on data types' locations within systems like MongoDB and MySQL, improving the processing of DSRs and data enforcement policies.

October

New Roles (DSR Manager & Data Inventory Manager): Two new roles were introduced - the DSR Manager and the Data Inventory Manager. These roles were designed for specialized handling of DSRs and comprehensive management of data inventory, respectively, adding layers of efficiency and control for administrators.

Async Copy: MineOS upgraded its custom integration capabilities with support for asynchronous operations. This enhancement included file support and advanced handling of various request types, including long-running DSR operations.

Privacy Center Custom Code Editor: The updated Privacy Center code editor in MineOS transformed into a live "what you see is what you get" tool, allowing real-time visibility of code changes for a more intuitive and efficient user experience.

Custom Integration for Personally Identifiable Information (PII): We introduced a custom integration feature for PII management, enabling the connection of any internal system for comprehensive data scans with prompt results, ensuring informed control over your PII.

Custom Views in Data Sources and Processing Activities Tabs: As of December, MineOS offers customizable views in the data sources and processing activities tabs, allowing you to easily select and sort data using filters and columns of your choice. Save and switch between your preferred views effortlessly, enhancing your privacy management experience.
