Data Mining
Data mining is the process of analyzing data from different perspectives and summarizing it into useful new information. Data mining software is one of a number of tools for interrogating data. It allows users to analyze data from many different dimensions or angles, categorize it, and summarize the relationships identified. Technically, data mining is the process of finding correlations or patterns among dozens of fields in large relational databases. It is commonly used in a wide range of profiling practices, such as marketing, surveillance, fraud detection and scientific discovery. Obviously, for data mining to be effective it is necessary to analyze large amounts of previously collected data.
